Natural Resources Canada Library will sponsor development of enhanced bibliographic record linking capability in Evergreen. Equinox Software, Inc. is providing the development services. The development will enable catalogers and system administrators to link a given item record to more than one bibliographic record. Some examples of the use cases that will be supported by this development include:
* E-book readers and the bibliographic records that are linked to them;
* journals, with a number of different issues, bound into a single physical item; and
* conference proceedings, where there are a number of different papers from one conference, bound together into a single physical item.
There will be backend, middle layer, and UI enhancements to support this development. It is anticipated that the development will be complete by the end of the first quarter of 2011. The development will target the next feature release or major release of EG.
A big thank you is in order for George Duimovich at NRCAN for spearheading this development. Thank you George! We couldn’t do it without you.
